The two Shepway councillors from Folkestone’s Harvey West ward have expressed their anger at the number of steel posts that have been erected in residential streets in their ward, ahead of new parking signs. Cllrs Rory Love and George Bunting blame the excess number of new signs on the complicated way highway engineers have implemented a residents’ parking scheme near Folkestone West station.
Love Seeks Assurances over New Traffic Light Scheme
Cllr Rory Love, Conservative councillor for Folkestone’s Harvey West ward, has written to Kent County Council’s (KCC) Highways Department to seek assurances over the proposed traffic lights at the junction of Shorncliffe Road and Beachborough Road. The new junction scheme, adjoining Folkestone West station, is in readiness for the arrival of the full high-speed train service from December.
Shepway Councillor takes the Chair at Regional Employers’ Organisation
Cllr Rory Love chaired his first meetings last week of local government’s regional employers’ organisation, South East Employers. The Shepway councillor and cabinet member was elected as the organisation’s Chairman at its annual general meeting in July, but last Thursday took the Chair for the first time at meetings of both its Management Committee and, later, its Executive Committee. It is the first time a Shepway councillor has held a post at the organisation.

A Shepway Councillor and his dog have taken part in a campaign to help prevent Gary McKinnon from being extradited to the United States to face trial for hacking into US Government computer systems. Cllr Rory Love, who represents Folkestone’s Harvey West Ward, is backing the campaign, which is organised by Liberty, the human rights organisation.

Rory Love Launches Website to Help Residents Object to Shepway’s Parking Ban
A Shepway councillor has received so many complaints about a proposed parking ban, that he has launched a new website to help residents of his ward send in objections to the proposal.
Cllr Rory Love, who represents Folkestone’s Harvey West ward, says residents of his ward will be among the first to suffer under a proposal to paint yellow lines in front of people’s driveways.
Councillors Write to Residents over Folkestone West Parking Scheme
Two ward councillors have hand-delivered a letter to all residents in their ward who live near Folkestone West station to seek their views over Shepway’s proposed parking scheme. Cllr Rory Love and Cllr George Bunting have used their letter to outline their current thinking on twelve specific points relating to the residents’ parking scheme, and to invite comments from the people living in the roads that suffer from commuter parking.
Councillor Warns: “Clock Already Ticking on Latest Road Closure”
Councillor Rory Love has warned that the clock is already ticking for the 21 days given to complete the roadworks which have resulted in a further closure to a major road in his ward.
